KEITH TRIMPER MEMORIAL PLAYGROUND

KEITH TRIMPER MEMORIAL PLAYGROUND

The playground committee is pleased to announce that the playground build was a success on September 25th! 220 people took time out of their lives to pull together & build a much needed playground for the children of DES, as well as to honour a much loved youth in our community. Keith will always be remembered for his warm and caring heart. He was a faithful friend to many, always smiling and making others laugh. He was a great athlete who enjoyed a variety of sports, with soccer being his favorite. Keith touched many lives with his positive presence, and we are pleased to honor his memory through our school and community project.

We would like thank the donors below for contributing to our project & also to the carpenters who built such a beautiful outdoor classroom for the school.

AUGUST FUNDRAISERS

Beginning in August, the Digby Firehall will donate the proceeds from 4 of their weekly bingos towards our playground. This is a big help towards our playground & we are very thankful they are doing this!

The Learning Grove Childcare Centre recently held a penny drive for our playground. Thank you everyone from Learning Grove!

During Scallop Days, we had a booth set up on Admiral's Walk selling raffle tickets, beverages & freezies, as well as selling freezies at various stations during the parade. We managed to raise $450 for the playground. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth that Saturday & a special thanks goes out to our committee members who either contributed for the fundraiser or donated their time to mind the booth or sell freezies during the parade.

Grant Thornton's staff (see pic)held a bbq during the last week in July with the proceeds going to our playground as well. They will also be donating their proceeds from casual days during the rest of the summer. Thanks Grant Thornton!

All of the above are fine examples of how the people of Digby are pulling together to help us with this project. If you would like to help or have an idea on how your business can contribute, please email keithtrimpermemorial@gmail.com or call 245-4240 to speak to Sean or Julie. If you know one of our committee members, you can contact them as well.

Fundraising

As reported in an earlier post, our committee members have started approaching individuals & businesses for donations towards our project. Just in the last 2 weeks, we have managed to collect close to $5,000. Way to go everyone!

While the playground for the children is our main focus, we are also planning an outdoor classroom, as well as a community garden & walking track for everyone to enjoy.

During Scallop Days on Saturday from 10am - 4pm, we will have a booth set up across from the post office & will be selling tickets on a print by Poppy Balser, seafood donated by Brock Longmire and a whale watch tour donated by Amy & Craig Theriault. Water, pop & giant suckers will be available at the booth as well. Also, members will be selling freezies near the House of Wong on Water Street, across from the Wright Cut (barber shop) and near Pharmasave on Warwick Street during the Scallop Days parade.
So come on out, buy a ticket, something cold & support our project!
